The national flag of Indiais a horizontal tricolour with three stripes of equal width: deep saffron at the top, white in the middle and dark green at the bottom. Saffron stands for courage, self-sacrifice and renunciation; white stands for purity and truth, and green stands for faith and fertility. The ratio of the width to the length of the flag is two to three. In the centre of the white band there is a 24-spoke wheel  in navy blue to indicate the Dharma Chakra, or the wheel of law.According to Jawaharlal Nehru “The national flag of India is a flag and symbol of freedom.”
