On June 14th distinguished Bulgarian artists and other intellectuals from “Friends of India Club” and from different spheres of cultural life gathered at the “Dechko Uzunov” Art Gallery-Museum in Sofia to commemorate late graphic artist Yulii Minchev who in the course of the last ten years was the art-editor of Club’s magazine “Svetilnik” from its very first issue. Two exhibitions were arranged on this occasion jointly with the gallery’s co-operation and this of artists’ family: one of graphic works of Yulii Minchev and the other of issues of magazine “Svetilnik”. Present were Yulii Minchev’s wife Mrs. Kalina Tasseva, herself an eminent artist, and their daughter Dessislava Mincheva also an artist and Professor at the Academy of Arts; representatives of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs; Mr. R. K. Singh from the Embassy of India and Assoc. Professor Dr. Anand V. Sharma; many friends of the late artist.

In his speech mr. Peter Zmiicharov analyzed with reverence and touching emotionality Yulii Minchev’s creative work as a graphic artist. Vice President of Friends of India Club Evgenia Kamova spoke of the eagerness with which the late artist searched from different sources and presented beautifully on the pages of “Svetilnik” best examples of India’s cultural heritage.

An unforgettable evening, which the great artist and a true friend of India deserved as well as his highly valuable contribution to the better knowledge of India in Bulgaria. The Bulgarian National TV reflected the event.
